LimitlessFaceted Stone Settings

& Ring Making

WITH TAYTE MCRAE

Welcome to the wonderfully intricate world of ring making! In this course I will be covering the

essential skills needed to build a beautiful custom ring. I firmly believe that every piece of

jewelry should be a reflection of the person making it, we don't always have the knowledge to

bring our ideas into reality though, I hope to share the skills and techniques needed to bring

your wonderful ideas to life throughout this course.

We will walk through basic ring building, including the techniques behind sawing, soldering and

polishing. We will then move into faceted stone setting! I will teach you how to do flush bead

style settings, tube settings, double walled bezel settings, and a basket prong setting. These

are the most versatile ways of stone setting that I have found and I use one or another almost

daily in my studio. We will also be learning how to add on the extra details that can take your

work to the next level like pierced overlays and rope edges. To finish off, I will share how I apply

a beautiful antique finish to my work.

This is a technique driven course and while it is focused around ring making I hope that it can

be the next step in your journey to making beautiful and unique jewelry.

"I have been a full time silversmith for the past 11 years, but I

started out at about kindergarten. It runs in the family! My focus

has been on jewelry making, almost exclusively, and I look forward

to sharing that interest with you all today. Welcome to class, let's

build some rings!"
